Default ordered the modular strop from srd

Well I am happy to say that the Lynn modular strop well be arriving on my doorstep within the next several days..
Really looking forward to using it as I can honestly say I really don't like a hanging strop (technically my hanging strop)..anyway I do have a quick question about it.
It comes with two hard wool felt pads. I know I will be using one for the diamond spray..but the other one...Will that be a good candidate for non spray chromium oxide? Anyone use it on that material?
I had some here and just could not see buying another bottle if I already had some..thoughts on it..

    Thanks in advance.

I use the spray form of CrOx and diamond abrasive on my hard felt pads instead of paste. If you want to stick with CrOx paste I would use it on the textured leather pad instead. Remember, when applying pastes or sprays it is far better to err on the "not enough" side than the "how do I get this stuff off my strop" side. You will get better results by far.

you can definately use non spray CrO. Especially if it is powdered. just sprinkle it in lightly over the surface. If it is the Crayon type CrO i am not sure how that would go onto the felt.

However...the spray CrO is really nice and handy...makes it easy to get a good even coat of CrO on the strop...the SRD sprays are heavily concentrated.

    Good luck

You can use the paste or stick type just fine, I use 10k TI diamond paste on one felt, Chrox spray on another, i regret that, I will get the stick from now on. The spray clogs up the nozzle, you have to constantly shake it, it sprays in a cone unevenly and gunks up on the pad causing you to spray more, which caused the pad to get two small bubbles in it. My TI diamond powder stick has had no problems on the felt.
Mastering implies there is nothing more for you to learn of something... I prefer proficient enough to not totally screw it up.

I have some powdered CrOx..When it gets here I will take a closer look into it..I can always order another pad if need be since it is modular. If I mess one up then I wont feel that bad not needing to replace the whole thing.

when you spray the sprays the push down nozzle sticks. pull it back up and then spray it once release the nozzle again. You will see what i mean . shake well and give a test spray first into mid air . . ..i have both crox and .5 diamnond spray . not used them much as i mainly shave of coticule..last couple of razors i've took lynns recomendations of 5 x strokes on .5 spray and i liked it .. the srays are much easier and less mess..

Does any one no what type of crox is mixed in the srd spray?

I purchased some of the stick green buffing compound from Home Depot, sold by the buffing wheels and bench grinders... then shaved a small amount off with a knife, and microwaved it for 30 seconds, warning this stuff gets HOT, don't touch it, you WILL blister. it turns to mush and you can use a rag to rub it in leather or like me a balsa strip from hobby lobby glued to a painter stick. total cost was a few bucks..

Disclaimer: some say it is not as good as the expensive stuff sold for stropping,

As far as functioning like it should it works great in my opinion.

The chromium oxide spray is a .5 chromium oxide. I like it a ton better than messing with the powder and I am a lot less green colored when I leave the powder alone. The chromium oxide paste and crayon is really good on the poly webbing on cotton materials on the hanging strop.

    Have fun.
