I bought a couple of old duck strops. 1 was soooo worn out you couldn't tell what it was. The linen on the 1 I kept is kind of stiff and feels hard and the leather was replaced with the thickest chunk of cow I ever seen but it feels nice and smooth. I gave up trying to get a good one. For now

It's really kind of a loaded question because originally Charley Bresnick started the company but it wasn't DD, that came later. Pearlson bought it later on and most of the DD models we think of came out during the latter years when Pearlson owned it.

Thanks Nelson, needless to say, even when Bresnick owned it the two ducks, in one configuration or another, were stamped on some, or most, of the razors he had with his name on them ...... I'm pretty sure.

I have never tried stropping with linen (as afore mentioned) but after a go around last night I find that it works very well, but gets the razor onnly slightly sharper than using just leather. It is definatly fire hose, I can open it into a tube! neat. I wonder if they bought directly from the hose companies or fire departments?

Yes that's right Jimmy. He started just as Bresnick and apparently got the duck fever and experimented with just one duck as a logo and then two ducks and called it Twin Duck and then settled as Duble Duck later on and then renamed his outfit Bresduck and eventually DD. When Pearlson took over he eventually changed the name to Pearlduck (His name and those signature cracked ice scales) but the DD name had already caught on long before and most just referred to them as DD razors.

Back in the 1960s I walked by that store in Jamaica, N.Y a million times as a kid and never knew what it was or sold. Har har.(if I only knew then what I know now I'd of had every razor they ever sold)
