Does that mean you don't strop your razor on leather ? From what you are saying it would seem to be a regression to do so ,grit wise.

Honed 2 blades today. They were both previously sharpened and shaving well. Dulled both on glass, I hit the dmt 1200 on both, went straight to 3um film on granite(50 circles 50 laps 50 x strokes), and 1 um with wet paper under(40 laps). Then 30 laps crox, 40 laps cbn. on one, and 30 laps on crox only then leather. The cbn blade was noticeably smoother and maybe even a little sharper. HHT was 4-5 on both. More 5 on the cbn. 2 pass shave little touchup bbs. I hit the fools pass off the bat with both. CBN side was smoother and a little sharper IMO. Both took it straight off no tugging.

CBN is a bit different than diamond or other paste and you are making a big jump, grit wise.

I find that if you continue to strop on the CBN .1, pre shaving, you will see edge comfort improvement for up to about a week, then it will plateau to a very comfortable keen edge that can be maintained indefinitely. Using .125 CBN in progression will hasten the plateau, but you can make the jump, it will just take more laps. I do as many as 100 laps in progression and 50, for daily maintenance.

You do want a clean edge for stropping, post shave. I clean my razors with hot running water and a microfiber cloth. This will remove most of the soap and skin from the bevel and edge and not paste it on to you new CBN strop, it also will dry your razor exceptionally well, preventing rust. Also try to keep the CBN strop covered and away from dust contamination.

Your bevels will become more stria free and easier to keep clean as you progress.

Been doing 50 laps cbn and 50 leather daily. Very sharp and smooth. I took the jawline off today one pass,(my roughest stubble) and the fools pass as usual right off the bat. Im liking this.
