Fair enough. I respect what you are saying. I do own a GD 208 and yes it will shave. But it is not my razor of preference. Had to put a tremendous amount of work into it to get it to shave, but it did teach me how to hone. All of my other razors were easier to hone and not that much work. For me, they serve one purpose; to shave my face.

They are not hard to hone at all, if the seller does a good job of setting the bevel and generally fixing the razor so it will in fact hone nicely. In the raw, they are a bit much for some honers and particularly for new honers, absolutely. If you get one from someone experienced in these razors you won't have any problem honing it and there is no extra work involved.
I might just have to start a Gold Dollar Honing for Gold Dollar Newbies thread. It's a different mindset from honing a nice Wacker or Boker. Back in the day, the GD66 in particular was way out wack. You would have an attack of the vapours if you saw me cheerfully applying razor to 60 grit belt hahaha! They are much more mild mannered now, but you still have to be prepared to do some heavy lifting, and own the steel.
