Thanked: 1212A great video series.
I'm a single handed shaver myself. Some interesting alternative grips you're demonstrating. SRP-member BladeWielder also did a straight shaving video a while back. I recall a big discussion about the use of "non-textbook" grips, back then. People were going .
I personally never even tried both hand shaving, the thought never appealed to me and I don't see the advantage, nor disadvantage.
The way you preset the angle below your chin, for attacking the whiskers on the chin, is an interesting novelty to me. I'm going to try that one. Thanks for showing us.
I think these are video's for advanced shavers. I can imagine newbies copying some of your shaving strokes without the experience to know when and where, resulting in an unseen nick-fest.
So maybe a disclaimer is in order. (I'm without sound on my computer at the moment, maybe you have an off-screen voice on the videos, elaborating a bit further)
Congratulations for another great contribution to the straightshaving community,
Bart.

Thanks for the vids. I too am a right handed shaver. I suppose we all shave somewhat alike but I use a lot more lather and I keep the spine of the razor much closer to my skin. IOW more of a 30 degree or even less angle. It seemed to me that your's was more like 45 or better. I don't think I will ever be able to go against the grain on my mustache but you have inspired me to give it a try.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

X,
Nice videos. That is just what I do except I start WTG pass and then go to an ATG. Under the old scnoozola is exactly what I do.

Thanked: 1587Nice videos X!
Makes me want to shave off my goatee and mo' ..... Actually no, not really
But if I ever were to shave off my goatee and mo', I would come straight here to see how it was done. Respect.

Thanks for the video.....looks like you've got your technique down pretty good.
Some guys were wondering about your ATG on the first cheek pass...but it looked pretty smooth there to begin with. You are very fortunate to have sparse hair on the cheeks. Wish I could do that, but even with BBS my cheeks still have that grey shadow just waiting for tomorrow morning to come back out.

The vids are me with three days growth actually, and this is me on the left with two months growth. It grows in all thin and c0ckamamie in four different colours now if you include the grey. Still, you can kinda see how sparse my cheeks are and the sideburns aren't much thicker.
Another reason you can't really see my beard well is the low resolution that youtube permits. On the raw file here on my desktop is of course better.

You must have a steel skin! If I try to do the same ATG I might as well stick my face in the kitchen garbage disposal aka garburator. The sides is the only place I can go ATG be it a straight or any other shaving tool. Excellent videos I would say. I love how you were able to capture the shaving sound especially with the background noise.

Thanked: 0great video
thats so funny, you shave exactly how I shave...I am also a one-hander.....what made me laugh the most is how you shave your upper lip...I hold the razor just like that to have that "Extra Control" so that you dont slice your nose off........thanks so much...now I feel like I am doing it the right way!
