    That's some fast stropping!

Do most of you hold the strop at an inclined angle like that? Mine is fairly level with the ground. Also, I noticed a bit of give in the strop in the video. I usually hold it pretty taught... should I allow more give in my strop?

Maybe I'd had too much coffee that morning...

If you look at some of the older barber manuals, at least one of them recommended holding the strop as high as possible at the side of the body. That is where I picked up that style.

As long as stropping is comfortable, and the razor shaves like you want it to, any method should be fine.

Good video. It showed us beginners the proper form, and then it showed us a veteran's speed--fast but effective. I can used this video as a benchmark. Thank you.

The whole wrist not moving, flipping the razor thing comes with time. I found that it takes a bit of letting go - if that makes sense.

The harder you try, or the more you think about it, the harder it is to do. Kind of Yoda-Zen(ish), but it is what it is.

Scott is the Jedi stropper after all! He stropped up my CLIMAX a couple of years back...Made a mess all over the floor, but thats another story for another time. Now I am no slouch when it comes to stropping but the edge his stropping put on my razor was noticeably better than my own edge from stropping was at that time.

    A great video.
In my opinion the no-wrist-movement method offers the best perspectives for getting perfect contact between the razor and the stropping surface. As being perfectly illustrated here.

    Thanks for posting,
    Bart.

Stropping, imo, causes the biggest problems for new straight razor shavers. Stropping incorrectly can ruin any good edge, and most new guys do this without realizing it. The more stropping videos I see, the better.

Thanks for this one! It's great.
