Well, pixel, I like whatever it is your eyes see... that handle makes me wanna buy a lathe.
I have nothing else to add except to throw my agreement in with pixel about the 800, burnishing, rottonstone and ren wax. There's just a certain luster to that type of finish."Willpower and Dedication are good words," Roland remarked, "There's a bad one, though, that means the same thing. That one is Obsession." -Roland Deschain of Gilead

Thanked: 2027You can use the natural oils in some woods to great advantage, and your right Crouton,is the muted luster that make hardwoods glow.
I have always strived to let the wood be what the wood wants to be.
May sound stupid, but when I turn a handle,I have no clue what it will be (unless a copy)I ask the wood to tell me what it wants to be,than I just start to cut, some work, some do not.

I have tried to use the CA finish and I can't stand the stuff. It looks great when you can get it right, or if you can get it right in my case

Thanked: 3Hi everyone,
thanks for your advices and support.
Here are some pictures of my first restore, I could have done some things better but I have learnt lots from doing this first razor. I will incorporate those lessons for my next restore.
So here it is, Boker Perfection from the 1920's found in an antique's bin brought back to life. Its a great shaver too, I couldnt resist honing it last night for a test. It needed quite a bit of time on the 1k to get it shave ready but I am glad I restored it.
I appologize, I am not a photographer these are from my phone camera
