    Hold that thought until the owner has it and gives it a shave or three. Your irritation could have been from a gojillion things other than a bad hone. The slightest misappropriation of pressure, weak stretch, planetary misalignment.. and boom! You got a hot spot on your skin.

    The effort you put in, and result it yielded is far from being quantified as "let down'.

    Wish you were closer.. I could use some mentoring..

    Agreed! The rash could be anything. And thanks for the ongoing narrative - shows your problem-solving approach as well as reminding everyone of the need to slow down sometimes and think trough a number of options before charging ahead on a project. Also some of your solutions are really creative!
