Do you have a proper site address? Shavestyle.com doesn't connect with anything when I try it.

Thanked: 13249A little story...
I have gone through over 300 sets of scales in the last few days trying to find a vintage set to fit a customers 5/8 razor...
Scales are NOT one size fits all they are not even 5/8 fits 5/8 it just doesn't work that way.
Important measurements
Size of the razor
Distance between the Pivot hole on the razor and the end of the razor (point)
The distance relationship between the heel and the pivot hole (this can be the dangerous one to your hand)
The curvature of the spine and the blade (does it smile)
The Tang angle(s) vs the Wedge angle
The flex gap when closed (this can also be dangerous to your hand)
The distance from the point of the razor closed to the inside edge of the wedge (again can be dangerous to your hand)
The measurement from the pivot hole of the razor to the wedge
The measurement from the pivot hole of the scales to the pivot end of the scales in relation to the same measurement on the razor
The height of the scales at the pivot end in relation to the tang of the razor (stropping a mis-sized one it not fun)
These are most of the things one looks at when fitting scales to a razor, now that was all for your information they are your razors and your hands so it is your choice...
But you need to at least get the pivot hole to wedge measurement matched to the pivot hole to point measurement on your razor to within 1/4" at the most.. The pin to pin measurement means next to nothing

Thanked: 1371That's why I think it's crazy when someone makes a nice set of scales but has no idea what razor it will go on.
Those scales end up not looking so nice when a blade that doesn't match gets put in.

+1 on Glen's info, he knows what he is talking about as he has restored lots of razors.
I like to have razor in hand when making a set of scales. If I'm using the traditional pattern or making them custom I build the scales around the blade itself, that way I know it fits."If You Knew Half of What I Forgot You Would Be An Idiot" - by DoughBoy68
