Thanked: 1Black tang
Does anyone have any idea how they blacken the tang on certain razors? Also I have a C-Mon blackie that is losing its color in a few places and I was wondering if there was anyway to restore the black color?

I am not sure, never thought about it on a razor. I have blued a few guns though, and you could probably get all the black you wanted out of bluing the blade. Not sure if it works though, might have to give it a try myself lol

Thanked: 1How would one go about about blueing steel? Does it require a lot of expensive tools and set up?

Then if you want it really black there's a lot of phosphate solutions to try.

Thanked: 1Its that easy huh? Is that blueing solution fairly permanent or does it fade pretty quickly? Lemur any idea where I might find more specifics about the phosphate solutions?

It is pretty permanent and only goes away with wear. Wear gloves and I like to use white shirts or cheap white towels. That way I know where it is and I don't get it all over the place. It can be messy, and stains really well lol

Thanked: 1I would imagine that a product that colors steel would most likely stain anything it comes in contact with. Thanks for the information and advice. Especially the glove suggestion as smurf hands might be hard to explain.

Sorry, I know they exist but not where to get them.
I've used it on military guns, we had 2 bottles, one for cleaning and the other with the phosphate, it was really easy.Hur Svenska stålet biter kom låt oss pröfva på.
