Thread: Made new wooden zebra wood scales but they won't stay closed

    I had this problem once... The tang would push the blade away from the scales... Thicker wedge fixed it

    If it sits where its supposed to before it moves, the easy solution is to file the inside of the scales where they push on the tang.
    I suspect the scales are too rigid; probably too thick.

    Yep that fixed sanded the scales and works like a champ. Yes my scales are thick 3/16th. This was my first time making scales.
