Default How i straightened scales on my W and B

The nice wade and butcher hollow ground had real curvy scales (bone scales i think)

i soaked the scales in boiled water for about an hour. Then i used the following set up to allow the scales to dry in my desired shape

i used paint stir sticks and some clamps.

The last pic is what it looked like to start

sure looks alot better than when you started! i'm still new at this but i would guess that they were made of horn. i've had real good success with using a hair dryer on horn as will a celluloid. might help you get all those slight imperfections that were left from the hot water. i've found that the straighter the scales the easier it is to get the blade centered when you repin it.
