Brian, all but two are ground from 1/4" stock. The other two are from 3/16" stock. The O-1 is from Starrett, and the 1084FG (fine grain) is from Aldo Bruno, the New Jersey Steel Baron.
Not near there yet, but had to see exactly how the hamon was going to look

Chris,
Thanks for the links! For the knives and tools that I have made so far, I have used a local supplier here in Milwaukee and they only have the precision flat-ground stock which commands a bit higher price. Some things I make, the flat-ground is a time saver, but for razors, I will be grinding away all the surfaced faces anyway. I made my first razor from 3/16" and I think I may use that again for a 5/8 and 6/8. However, I think I am going to step up to 1/4" for anything over 6/8. I look forward to seeing how your next razors turn out.

Edit: I just realized the O-1 from KBC is precision ground! I have been getting robbed on my O-1 pricing.
Well, being a single dad with a full time job I don't get a lot of time to spend in the shop. I was able to get this guy worked up tonight, and boy did it feel good. The grind lines are pretty much where they will end up, although I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the top half, I'm thinking some type of large profiling... or I might remove most of it... just not sure yet. But I had to share... my two year old just doesn't appreciate my work much.

Well I just got these in today. They will be my first go at restoring. I plan to do them all just by hand. I am really excited about the terrier scales! I love my pit bulls!

Today I received the last piece of the puzzle. My drivewheel. So I set it all up, and had my first testrun :)

Very nice. I've been watching your work. Sweet. A joyous moment.
Now, what will you be wearing for safety.. thinking about the lower 1/2 of your body... Lead-lined radiological gown?
