I think I need to go take a nap now. That was too much thinking for this old truck driver. Now to buy a bunch of 3" buffers wheels.

What up fellas. I've been away for some time, but I'm still doing stuff. Just wanted to post some of the cool things I've been doing, and share it with you guys because it's easy enough that you could also do it as well.
I've been playing with resin, and shimmering mica powder!!! Very fun, a little bit pricey to purchase, but if you were to use it for scales a bottle would last a long time. Here's what I've been doing.
Bought some of this from Michaels. https://www.amazon.ca/Environmental-...ng+resin&psc=1
Then I bought these off Amazon. https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I made some simple moulds from old credit cards and used hot glue to hold everything together. A little bit of the mica powder on the end of a popsicle stick and then mix it into the resin. Here's a few brush handles I did.

But then I had a little extra that I just left cure in one of the plastic cups. I was about to throw it away and I did a double take. This looks almost identical to Dubl Duck scales. Minus the blue ting that's in there obviously.

I've been dying to do some blue scales for my Othello razor, and I think I'm going to give this a go for them. I may even try doing some Dubl Duck scale replicas at the same time.
Awesome handles, Andrew! :cool:
Dear Mr. HARRYWALLY, please try to refrain in the future posting images of your creative endeavors. You are leading me down the path to the offense of violating the posted laws of the land. Continuing to do so will result in my having to deny my decendents of their rightful inheritance (which isn't much to speak of any way.) If you do insist on continuing your enticing ways please, at least, accept my enthusiastic endorsement of your fine products.
Yours, one happy/unhappy Razorfeld:rock::chapeau
Also, I picked up some Alcohol ink from Michaels as well. I think it's intended for making your own makeup, but it will also work for dying resin so that it's transparent. I'm also going to give that a go as well.
Nice work HarryWally. Always enjoy seeing what you turn out! I really like the look of the longer handles. I would like to find a long handle somewhere just to see how it feels in the hand. Seems like it would be more comfortable for creating a lather, but the short handles are still popular too. :shrug:
HarryWally - You are a true craftsman! There's no way I could ever come remotely close to making something like you do. I'll just have to be content with "store bought" brushes!
Looks like you are having fun and making cool stuff Andrew.
More great stuff, Andrew!
Very cool Andrew!
While I was at Woodcraft this last time, I was looking for Clear acrylic for the wedge I wanted to make and was chatting with a guy (customer) and he told me about the stuff you had bought. He said me bought pen blank molds and uses that acrylic stuff and the dust and makes his own pen blanks. Told me I could go get some and make a simple mold and make my own wedge. The price was a lot more than buying the piece I got at Woodcraft so I just went with it.
Now you post up on the stuff. Its a small world in the molding business I guess.
