Glad you brought that up. So I dug up some old wedges and stuck them in with micro-bolts. Trying to get the weight as close as I could anyway.
Here is with a Lead Wedge although I think the brass wedge cut to the right size would be a touch more weight...

Then here it is with two small plastic wedges that I'm guessing is about the size of material needed for the right shape...

So, in the end, I think the plastic wedge would be a better choice.
OH, And I tried a small piece of bone too. A little better than the lead but still the balance point was at the scale and not just in front of the scales.
That was a great experiment.
Possibly the brass might have been a bit much but I don't think it was going to rock the boat. Still, Balance, when I can do it right, would be better.
Thanks, guys. Now if I can find something open tomorrow!
Edit:
I do have a piece of shinny Black plastic. I know its not as exciting, but I think it will go with the colors fine. I will ask SWMBO for her opinion. Will cut it out tomorrow and see what it looks like. Good night all!

Looks good to me, Jerry. :beer1:
TBH, balance is not so critical on a shorty. Blade-heavy a bit is the way I like them.
It will be fine, IMO.
Nice job!

Nice looking razor Jerry.

Watching the progression i have seen the spine curve matched on the top the scales. That is one of my favorite touches. Thanks!

Got it on the stones. It took a bit of work to get the bevel set. After cutting the edge off with the drimmel. But after bevel set, not too bad. A medium bevel. Not wide or tiny, but even. Started with one layer of tape to get it set, then killed the edge and went with one layer of the Polyimide Film. That put the edge at 17+ degrees.
Yep, it should be a singer. Just like I like them. I'm thinking I took about 1/2" off the length so its a big shorty. Ha.
A big Thanks to Mike T. for donating to me and Tom for pointing out the scales I broke would be great for a shorty.
Back to work tomorrow so I will give it a shave in the next day or two. Should be just fine. The edge is a little stiff for a hollow now but I'm thinking it will be a great shaver.
Yes, Richard! I too like a spine to follow the top edge of the scales. I adjusted the scales so it would be in line as much as possible. Not perfect but close enough that you noticed, and that makes me happy!
The real odd thing is my first shorty was also the same scale material/color. Its a real shorty...
