Nice work, John. She's a looker.!!
Sword and crown looks great!
Horn looks really nice with the inlay.
Just a thought, not a critique of your work!
If it were black horn, I would think that would be a little more forgiving since any mistakes could be repaired with something like Mike's bog oak dust "bondo". Just a thought for someone considering trying this.
With my redneck plastic dial caliper 0.04.
Cleaned them up a bit. Found a Jos Rodgers wedge blade with some heft. Looks to fit good.

2 oz scales and a bit heavier blade. Should be OK.
Gonna need a forklift to pick it up! ;)

Looks like the top pinhole has been oversized. Likely blade-changes over the centuries...
Will disassemble all and see what I can do for collars.

Not too keen on another wedge, though...I will be digging through some big Sheffield hollows.
An FBU may work? :hmmm:
So I'm not the only one relying on a cheap plastic caliper!
:P
Those are some thin scales but being what they are i wouldnt think you would want thicker. Looking good Tom. Its going to be blinding shinny when your done.
Found this Wostenholm FBU in a drawer at home.
Gonna give it a test-fit........

Bone scales in oil.

I hope to get one set on a razor this weekend
What do you use for cutting bone? Is it a material you have worry about chipping while cutting? Only times I’ve done it is for butchering game, I assume dry bone must not cut as easily or cleanly.
Well...it comes through the bottom like I figured it would. My Stenton blade is too long.
Found an old WR Wade and Butcher regrind which fits nicely. Lighter than the others, though.

Reckon I will unpin the bottom and see what that silver wedge (spacer) weighs.
Could put a bit thinner and lighter ivory one in???
This is where it gets interesting. I am beginning to look at the scales for some which won't fit. At times I get a set of scales or a blade and start test-fitting and come up with several matches to build which I could not see before....
