I might be done with these scales. I will check tomorrow in the daylight. 6 coats of Tru-oil only. No polish!

Great shape and beautiful finish ! :)
Not done. Damn!
I found a tiny spot I sanded thru to deep. Going to go back for a few more coats. So, I will not be pinning them up this week. One coat a day is the limit for drying time up here so... Next weekend. Mocked up so I can see how it should turn out...

Very nice Jerry! Like the direction you ran the grain.

Very nice scales Jerry. Good you're taking your time & not getting in a hurry. there are times when you don't have to crank that gatling gun full speed.
Got my knife edged brass threaded inserts in 5/16 and 3/8 sizes in the mail today to go along with a bunch of s.s. rod I’m going to need on the strop builds I’m about to start.
Funny you have been showing leather dye.
I’m wrestling with the decision to dye or not to dye on the horsehide I have selected. It’s natural now and I do not want to affect the draw by adding anything to it. I’m assuming you can dye without issue as I have a black and maroon strop that work great.
Any feedback from leather workers appreciated..
Cheers.

If you could have a bit of scrap leather you could dye one piece and leave the other as is and see if you can 'feel' any differences. Just a thought.
