Randy, I’ve seen that exact thing in the razors I’ve made and broke. If they used a hypoeutectoid steel I imagine it would harden through. I’ve been using 1095 and there is a definite transition when you get into the thicker cross section of a the blade, the grain clearly coarser and a different color.
I got the cars washed and the snow tires off and all season tires on. Everything put away and now my back is shot. Laying in bed with the ice packs and resting so i can hole to go to work tomorrow.
Its hell getting old. And i just dont know when to stop. I will get back to the blade but might just call it windchime material. The rust did look like the scales were gassing so id need new scales to go with it. I did get it in a small lot so i bet im not out but 5 bucks on it.
It doesn't feel right to give you a like on that one Jerry. Hope you feel better brother.
Get better. Getting old is a bitch. Just ask me.
Boy, Aint that the truth!
Just an update. No working for me today. Just not physically able. Dammit! Might do some honing. Thanks for the good wishes. Now back to what your working on.
