One of these days I'll get around to making a set of scales like that. I've got 7 different projects going on now, and with boating season coming on strong, finding less time to get them accomplished. Might have to put the machine gun away, and pull out the semi auto, or the trusty pump action. [emoji5]

The term 'NOS' is so loosely tossed around at times. I have a Wilbert Cultery that was given to me by an old friend. While it wasn't in the original packaging, there were no signs of honing so I could have considered it NOS, but I dont'. It's just a really nice old razor that shows no signs of usage.Quote:

As far as the time it takes to get a razor honed. Sometimes it takes Days of working, then setting aside and then starting again. There's no 'money' in honing, only personal satisfaction and being able to help others. :tu
I'll have to count them again but IIRC there are 5 of these razors that have never seen a hone or a whisker. Having restored two antique cars, NOS parts means to me new original parts from that particular time period in their original boxes that probably came from an old dealership warehouse. That's my take on NOS.
I'm not charging my cousin to do this. It's my way of getting him on the right track to decent shaving. My payment is the satisfaction I'll get when I see his smile. Do it for anyone else?...........not on your life. Honing is a pain in the butt and I have enough razors of my own to keep up.
Yep. Roy speaks the truth. New guys need to realize the just because you HAVE a hone, does not mean you need to use it.
Just a bit on a rough hone will start you from (most times!) dead, minus, scratch! (pun intended!) :)

Well, electronic handshakes are difficult. I suppose we'll settle for film prints mailed to each of us. 1 roll per razor ;)
Well....A picture IS worth a thousand words, you know.
Most of us are as old as you and much older. If you can navigate this forum, hunt and peck, you can get a cheap camera and post some pics.
