Yeah, plus one to the fit and finish. True oil, though a pain to work with gives such a nice finish. Totally worth the efforts.
Looks great!

.031" thick and sanded smooth on the inside.
USAKnifemaker.com is 1 of my favorite suppliers. Great people to work with.
On to making my first set of real scales, going with black horn not sure what ill go with for a wedge just yet. Going at it by hand this time so ill be awhile. Found out a file works really well for shaping.
Honing up some kitchen knives. Gotta have um ready for Thanksgiving. Think they were used to cut concrete.

The chef knife blade was loose, and sliding out of handle. So I removed the blade, marked the handle, and installed a nickle/silver pin, and a domed SS washer. Better than new.

That's funny, I was just sharpening some kitchen knives too using the super hard brown hone I found a few weeks ago. Works great, I think it's similar to the brown hone in the corner of your first picture. Someone around my house (I'm not saying who) has a bad habit of chopping up vegetables then sliding them sideways across the cutting board using the knife edge. I find sharpening the knives to be easier and more fun than trying to break them of the habit! :D
Yup, tried that, just sharpen them when your stones are out. I just bought her 3 similar knives, of the size and style she likes, so one is always sharp.
Their in bad shape, so I started on the 400 Nani, then the brown stone, and finished on a washita, with glycerin.
She's popping hairs ..!!

Gonna take some cleaning up, but some of the pitting is quite deep.
