"No Country for Old Men" is one incredible film, Hirlau. Enjoy! (My life without the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino would be sorely lacking. Recently read that a Scientologist nut advised Travolta not to take his career-resurrecting "Pulp Fiction" role. Some stellar advice, eh?)
Speaking of strops....For some dumb reason I have absconded with 24 old NOS Boar hide strops from Tripoli Barber supply in Philadelphia. I have a vintage pigskin strop and love the way it strops...
Old cellulose coverings just crumbled away.

Of course it is old and dry, but this stuff won't crack and split like cowhide or horsehide.
Processing them 2 at a time. Damp cloth rub, Bick leather cleaner, heavy. Then Bick conditioner.
After Damp cloth and drying,Bick cleaner, 3 shots of Bick leather conditioner, both sides. They are turning up nice.
On the right to left. Wiped-down with damp cloth, finished, next 2 are cleaned and awaiting the conditioner tomorrow.
LOTS of hand-rubbing involved.

Found some NOS fire hose. Only 4 will require some cleaning.
Using the remaining bits to learn how to iron them smooth....:D

1 fire-hose component and 1 Boar- hide strop will be made to fit a Lipshaw strop for Razorfeld. The rest will be hangars.
Hardware en-route.
