Here is a quick pic. I found that by using a toothpick I could get a lot of the muck out of the track, of which there was quite a lot.

I found something better than the toothpick. I was thinking along the lines of a pipe cleaner but didn't have one. What I did have are those tooth cleaning things that you use to clean between teeth. They look a lot like small brushes. I used a Piksters no 1 which worked fantastically.

Thanked: 522Just a belated thought on the problem of loosening stuck stuff. Here in the states we have what is called "Liquid Wrench" which amounts to being a spray can of basically kerosene. Works well. You might also try mineral spirits. Are you familiar with ethyl ketone. That's some strong stuff that might work in some cases. And of course your acetone.
That is a nice set of vintage frameback blades. It's good that you are putting them back in service. Good job......JERRY
OOOPS! Pass the styptic please.

Cleaned and honed. I've recently become a fan of minimal restoration. Leaving the patina on the razor.

Thanked: 485I really like that. Is that the same blade or another? Did you paint in the engraved letters? They look red which looks quite nice. Like the patina too.
I love the razor but could never own one. I'd go completely insane trying to work out which blade I wanted to use in it; some of those look to be really appealing shapes.Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why should you not speak to me? And why should I not speak to you?

Jaques Lecoultre frameback 7 blade razor
Stick with your lucky numbers. Mine happen to be 3 and 7. It is the same razor. Lightly sanded the horn scales and treated them with neatsfoot oil. Used some autosol polish on all the blades and razor frame. Honed on progression 1, 4, 8,12k and took an edge quickly.

I sexed up the pic a little and I did fill in the engraving with red.
