I really like the original scales. Can't see the condition so well from the picture, but using them with another blade is an option.

You already mentioned putting the both back together as a keepsake. This one is a heartbreaker. Maybe you should find another project and come back to it later if you choose.
Thanks for your input. It may be a decent mustache trimmer!

Im unsure what Im going to do, but I am going to finish the scales. I have a wade and butcher that has decent scales and a Boker that has cracked scales. I may see what I can do with one of those.

Yeah I quickly realized I rather have intact razors than shiny razors.

Sorry to see the razor get damaged. It was a punch in the gut when I broke one recently and it did not have the sentimental attachment yours does.

I don't think the blade will ever be of use again.

If you want to get it repaired take it to a jewelers and see if they can silver solder it back together. It will be no good for shaving after the fix, but at least it will be complete.

The exact same thing happened to my brother. He was restoring my grandfather's razor when it broke. He ended up making a short 2 incher with the blade and hand made scales to match. Then he got a new blade to put in the original scales. Now we both have half.
Sorry for the loss but it can be fixed. Good luck.

Its being made into a shorty now. I still have the scales. Im thinking about retrofitting them to the new sized blade.

    Sorry for your loss.

There should be a thread: Destruction of Today, repleat with photos and stories of high-speed blunders and screw-ups foisted upon the rusty blades of yesteryear. Maybe it would save some blades.

Kudos to those that buff their fingers black every day and seldom crack steel, but there sure is a fine line between restoration and complete destruction as i see it.

Tumbler is as mechanized as i'm getting. for now.

We have a blood thread...this hurts more, skin grows back mostly.
