Thread: First Re-scale project!

When you're pinning, you may want to try leaving the wedge just a TINY bit loose. Just enough so that it is easier to make fine adjustments once you get the pivot pin in if everything isn't closing perfectly square.

After my issues with the first set of scales I adjusted the shape of both designs. Tonight I pinned the Jas T Scott!!

The scales are mahogany with a purpleheart wedge and finished with bees wax. The blade has been sanded to 1000 grit, I left some of the staining on the tang and some of the deeper pitting because I liked the character of the blade and wanted it to still look its age.

The new scales for the Rev-O-Noc are in the works, I'll post pictures as soon as it's done!

If I hadn't already drilled the holes for the other set of scales, I'd have tried it out. I'll have to try a single pin for my next restore.

I still think it looks good.

I finished the Rev-O-Noc!! Now all I need to do is send them both out for honing.

You did a good job. I agree with the single pin on the wedge end though. But that's my opinion. I would try a to center the pivot pin on the scales a little more on your next one. But all in all good job. Keep it up.

On Tuesday I got my razors back from Bayamontate, and last night I finally had time for a shave!

I tried out the Rev-O-Noc and got the best shave I have had with a straight so far, it was almost effortless! Now I have to wait a day or so to be able to try out the Jas T. Scott!



While he had them, Bayamontate was also kind enough to give both blades a little extra polish before honing. I'll put up some pics when I get a chance.
