Thanked: 284I noticed that heel too but wasn't sure if you just increase the smile there? Thanks for sharing the insight.
I love living in the past...

I mostly use epoxy from the dollar store! You can mix it with colorant or add colored dust. I have had good luck on dark horn by mixing in bakelite dust. After the repairs and sanding, India ink will make all look same. Gotta let dry, though!
Never oil horn till completely done, even then, might not be necessary!"Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

this is my second run in with this issue.
before
after:
I don't have a close up. but basically I changed the radius of the heel and re shaped the frown to a smile by scribing off of the spine.
worked out pretty well for that razor. no reason it shouldn't workout on this one.

After some tough grinding. Yes I used a dremel. I got the stabilizer back up above the edge.

Thanked: 1184I use clear Gorilla but I think Mike uses a slow setting Ca. for the pits and bug bites. He does a lot more old scales than I do.
Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

OK so as it stands I have the razor done with the exception of some buffing of the handles. Couldn't get the horn right for the life of me so I did wood. I also tried double stacked washers. The blade was looking good and near mirror and I decided I wanted to try something different so I went ahead and forced a patina. I like the overall results. It won't be everyone's cup of tea tho.
