Nothing wrong with wood... How'd you do the finish?? You've been keeping busy!

Sanded it to 1500 and oiled it. Gonna re oil n let it set over night then buff it with a MF cloth.

The patina turned out really cool. Looks like a movie prop.

    And its... Done!!!!

Scales and wedge are Ipe. Blade was sanded smooth then patina'd. Pins are brass with stacked stainless with brass on top (different OD).

Honed on king 1k/6k then finished on my Okudo awesedo using a tomonagura progression finishing on just water then added 2nd layer of tape for 10 more laps just water.

    Best shave I've had yet.

Good job on grinding the stabilizer up past the blade edge so it won't drag on the hones. That would have been my first step suggestion for you restoration.

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience....well that comes from poor judgment.

I wish. I can't afford to make a forge yet. That's down the road. And it's D2 and I've been told that's a pita to get right during the heat treat. Not sure who I'll use yet.
