Think these scales are salvagable?
So picked up a George Wostenholm & Son pipe razor the other day and must saw that the scale back side hinge was cracked. Went back and checked the listing picture and sure enough it was there... so bad on me. After unpinning it, I realized it had actually been repaired (somewhat poorly in my opinion) some time in the past. The question now is, do I try and sand it up a little and give it a neatsfoot oil bath or start crafting a new set?
Let me show you some pics and you can help me decide.
Any and all thoughts welcome.

Thanked: 634Is there any warp or cell rot on them. You might try epoxy where it is cracked and fill in any chips with the same. You have nothing to lose. They are not great as is. Good luck.

They are horn treated to look like tortise so no cell rot issues. No bug bites, but there is a little bit of warp to them. Maybe I can just use these to experiment with and if it turns out great, so much the better.

sand the inside edges only to remove the dark stains near the wedge just dont sand the outside the toxic varnish stuff comes of pretty quick I learned with some I haveSaved,
