Tell me more about breaking the anvil... I have been preparing to try damascus but it seems a bit of a job in my single car garage (which houses a car).

I had a small 15 pound cast iron anvil, I hit the razor, but was working towards the tail of the anvil, and I broke the back off of it.

I can't wait to try something like this. Good on you for making it happen. Were you using a blacksmith hammer, small sledge hammer or press?

I've never seen a santoku razor. Must be mean around the ears!

I bought black smiths hammers from a junk shop, they work great... soaked them in peanut oil to tighten the handles.

and as for mjolnir.. yes, you got me...

I think there was a flaw in the iron, it had a very coarse grain where it broke. (wish I'd taken pictures...)
