So I removed the damage at the rear, finished the scales off and custom sanded everything to account for the slight twist at the shank

I used CA for the finish on the tulipwood and I also used superblue across the name stamp area this time. Let it soak, buffed up the flats and the letters received some nice detailing in contrast.
She still has that lovely tempered song to her and she honed up very, very easily.
All told, 7/16" less work area to the blade, but I bet I won't even miss it. Rarely get the entire blade against my face as it is.
Maiden shave tonight. Thanks for the suggestions regarding reshaping. That swed gave me just the right confidence to try it myself.
I'm happy with the results and am learning with each restore.
    Cheers.

Outstanding! I feared she would be relegated to a junk drawer.Kudos to you for resurrecting a blade which most would have discarded. Now you have beautiful, functional razor to ad to your rotation. I am impressed!

Thx Wirm, I figured, no harm in seeing what was possible.
Shaved with it last night, and it was nice. I had three days growth so it was a pretty thick lawn to mow through too.
When I shave I start at the ear and work towards my mouth. This being a less than three inch blade now allowed a nice clean definition at the slowly growing Movember stache.
Very good edge still as there was virtually no hone wear on the blade, hence why I tried to save it in the first place..sang like a choir through the whiskers as well.
    Cheers.

I have done that before & made it work.

Mike, I'm sorry that happened but when I saw it, this type of razor came to mind so it's not the end yet!
I have ruined two Wade & Butcher blades that slipped from my hands using a buffer. I now successfully use my Dremel to polish blades with!

Great job Mike! I didn't see this because I posted from the previous page. I knew there was some possibility to that blade!

Thanks for the feedback. I have shaved a few times now with it and am happy with the save. Absence of heel has made for a more flexing blade definitely. But that's really only an issue when honing so I was careful. Lots of experience with crack migration back in my aviation days so I knew if I didn't completely dress out the damage it would keep growing under my repair. Feels safe to use and still does the job it was made for so long ago.
    Cheers.
