Default Help - black streaks on blade!

Ok... did my first stupid thing with a razor. thought it was a good idea to give my gold dollar a good clean by the blade in a pot of boiling water for 10 min. I took it out and found all of these black streaks on the blade!

Corrosion needs to be removed with an abrasive,,, How abrasive will be determined by the depth of the corrosion..

MAAS, Flitz, Blue Magic etc: would be a good starting place

At least you realize it was dumb, simple rule around SRP "If yer not sure ask" then everyone gets a chance to argue about it

Maybe you could try some metal polish like autosol or Maas.

I don't know for sure what it is, rust maybe?, did you boil it with with the scales still on, maybe some dye in the plastic leaked out when it got heated(far fetched IMO).

If it's actually ruined you can at least take comfort in that it's only a GD.

It wasn't that nice looking before why not leave it that way, looks better than any GD I've seen. But ya Maas would work it cleans just about anything metal. Tc

Where would you get auto polishing supplies in Toronto? Look there.

Any metal polish and 000 or 0000 steel wool, if that does not do it, some 1000 or 600 wet and dry from an auto supply store or perhaps hobby shop.

Then finish with metal polish and paper towel.
