My wife says the same thing about me, but she likes to have me around.

I feel the same way about the little rubber thingy on the razor.....

You could try getting a bunch of 1/32 cross section by about x about 5/16thths diameter hole "O-rings" from a hardware store and stack them onto the tang. Obviously the razor must be unpinned. Perhaps a good time for cleaning.
And if the "o-rings" look good, the remove them and add a little trim adhesive to the spot on which they will reside.
I have used the o-rings for a lot of purposes, they are dirt cheap, and this could be another.

I have one razor with that apparatus. A Puma Inox # 63, and the rubber is 1/2 way split along one edge of the tang. I never would have bought that razor had it not been for the Spanish point.

An unusual thing in a Puma AFAIK, and one of my favorite points for a straight razor. I think I'm going to put a dab of 3M black super weatherstrip adhesive on it and clamp it to prevent it going the rest of the way.

I wish they would never have come up with that cost cutting move, and just continued stamping logos in tangs with jimps top and bottom. Wish in one hand ....... spit in the other .......

Perhaps a piece of rubber tubing would work as well..... but unpinning the razor to put that on seems like a pita for something you dont really need....JMO

These are pen grips from cheap" Colibri pens "from a drug store. The ridges run 90 deg to the fili's, but who cares !

The top one is original - the 5/8" below is Sugru. Not a very clear picture unfortunately, but Sugru sticks to almost anything - closer than a shirtail to a shitty bum, as the saying goes.

Actually, I got that wrong - it's the 6/8" that's Sugru and the one below that's original.

My thoughts as soon as I saw the pics.

    What is the purpose?

They do aid gripping - although a Dovo Bergischer Lowe I have encouraged water to creep under and cause damage - so I removed it. With the Pumas there was no noticeable problem because water can't get underneath.

The other issue with them is that both the tang and scales are designed to accommodate the rubber, therefore if it's missing, the razor looks wrong.

Really? That's good to know. I've never used a razor with anything but maybe jimping on up the tang but the rubber cover looks like it would give a more secure grip.
