Default Replacement rubber tang grip on a Fili?

Recently picked up my first Fili and after cleaning and buffing the beautiful blue scales, I noticed that it originally had a rubber sleeve on the tang. Has anyone found or came up with a decent replacement?

If you want it to look as good as the originals did, I think your best bet would be to hunt down a broken EPBD and cannibalize it for the grip.

Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I made a replacement for my Puma from a product called Sugru. It has a work time of about 30 minutes before setting and you can sand it down once it has set overnight.

I started by rolling out a small piece with a pencil to get it at about the right thickness, cut it to size and then moulded it in place. I added ridges with the side of a steel rule to mimic the original. Once set, I used a fine paper to sand it down and the end result is excellent.
My service is good, fast and cheap. Select any two and discount the third.

That would be from one of these. But, this one's not going anywhere.

Here is a homemade alternative to the Sugru that was talked about:

Anyone willing to try it out and let us know the results?

Those rubber Grips really serve no purpose, just a rust magnet.
