    Default Numbers inside scales??

I was restoring a Joseph Allen and Son razor when I noticed it had the number 77 on the inside of each scale. Anyone ever seen this and know what it means. The scales are not horn.

My guess is that is from manufacturer to determine e which brand and style razor they are for. May not be correct but it sounds good.

+2. Perhaps the company used similar, but slightly different, scales in assembling razors. A way of easily differentiating between the models.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Seen that Numbers often, there could be also TM Names inside the Scales (especially Galalith, a Casein Plastic from the 20s/30s) or the Manufactorers Name (here inside my Gong 7/8").
