Also I noticed a product I hadn't seen before, Mothers Billet Polish. Anyone try this? Mothers Billet Metal Polish - Walmart.com

Thanked: 2591I use Mother's Aluminum and Mag, works just fine and is not expensive.
I am not sure there is any difference in final result, that can be observed with naked eye at least, between the different popular finishing metal polishes.Stefan

Generally I use MAAS ( The tube not the bottle which does not work so well for me.)
I do like Blue Magic headlight polish for a final on plastic scales.
I did not like the Mother's Mag wheel polish. More smell than poor performance.
Flitz is good but hard to find.
All work well and some of the 3M stuff is great. But expensive. You can sometimes get bottom of the bottle ( empty) tag ends from an auto body shop near you.
Everybody's mileage will vary!

My experience is that Maas is thicker/stiffer and a little harder to use - and more expensive than Mothers.
There was also a previous post that paper towels are a little more abrasive and effective/faster than cloth. My father was an engineer. He used to tell me that sharpening a straight razor is like trying to build a ladder to the moon out of a roll of aluminum foil.

Thanked: 3215For final finish I do like MAAS, it is pricy-er, but you don’t need much just a dab, a tube lasts a long time.
I use Mothers and or Turtle Wax polishing compound to begin hand polishing with Blue Paper Shop Towels and finish with Maas.
