dependent upon how tightly you snug in the scales with those wing nuts, I would put some sort of soft gasket material on the clamping sides of that jig. All that work aligning and securing the scales you would want to put deep scratches or crack them!

That is good thinking. It gets everything straight as drilling. I could see it under a drill press as well.
