    I believe that you will need to keep the blade cool as well to maintain the temper.

    Like cevhead keep it cool, cut a liitle bit stop then cutt a little more. DO NOT cut it all in one continuos pass or you'll destroy the razor

    Thanks everyone. I'm not sure I'm up to the repair just yet. I'm still looking over the razors I have and figuring out what I have and just what to do with them all. I've never used a straight razor and I don't mind saying the thought does give me more than a little pause.
