Yes, the part under the leaves looks like wood. I wondered about going brown on the whole thing, wiping the leaves while still wet, and going light on the top of the leaves with something else, Here is a different spin on the tobacco ones. I have always done them brown. I do suppose tobacco is green as picked.

You could really do a lot. The leaves turn from green to orange to brown and everything in between. So orange center and green edges or orange and red, orange and brown.

Yeah. Maybe a ' Fall' theme?

I would give them a light brown background that would highlight the wood pattern and be reminiscent of a brown oak leaf.

Yes, but I have done that.

I want to do it different on these. A Fall theme may be the ticket on the leaved one. Perhaps try to emulate my found example on the tobacco ones?

Odd, From what I am learning, Oaks take on a different face as to climate. A lot of what we have down here is mostly Live, or Holley Oak.
Oak leaves are much different elsewhere. These leaves seem to resemble White Oak due to the rounded edges, from my limited research.
Then, it is possible to see foliage in the fall from the white oak and attempt to replicate it.
The little Holly Oaks just fall off and turn brown. Some oaks produce nice color.

White oak is mostly a European thing. I have seen one at Norton Air Force Base in Ca. They get to 100 feet tall. Apparently the commander there imported all sorts of Oak and a few others to have around the base. We did a blade cut for the street and not to long later I had 70 or so acorns (popping sprouts) planted in 1 gal. containers. 2 years later I had some nice saplings. Couldn't sell em, couldn't give them away
