Default What is on these scales?

Want to paint up some old figural scales. The ones on the left are commonly referred to as 'tobacco leaf' scales, but the ones on the right are different. Any opinions on what sort of leaves these are and what color(s) should be applied?
    Thanks!

Yeah. I thought of Oak or Elm. They are bundled in sheaves, so I was thinking more about a crop of some sort?

I think a dark reddish brown would go great with oak leaves. I would glaze them with burnt umber then wipe off when still wet to have cream/bone colored highlights. The dark brown/cream color combo is a classic color scheme, like jigged bone, or an Schrade Old Timer pocket knife.
