    Default Collarless pins and horn

I did a few Searches and came up with nothing. Found threads on ivory, bone, and wood with collarless pins but no horn.

any thoughts, ideas or experience with horn? I figure it can be done but what is the long term effectiveness of the pins. Will the horn split as it contracts and expands, will it cup?

I have some nice black horn with white streaks I want to use stainless pins on.

i can't see any reason not to except that no one has talked about it which makes me wonder why.

Peening. Not sure what spinning them is. Elaborate please.

Or are there any other alternatives to collars?

The only spinner I have seen is for making the rivets on chainsaw chains. It works well for them. I suppose the same thing could be used for any rivet. Sharptonn has done some pinning with very tiny washers that disappear under the peen. I am certain you can get a peen to be almost round and with the right shaped and sized dimple in your anvil. You will have to experiment and I look forward to your results.

This is one of the best but it ain't cheap

Once you mentioned SS pins things changed, which is why I asked, most of us use Nickel Silver pins, and SS washers some of which are tiny and can barely be seen..
