Default Need matte black scales material

    Hey guys,
For a project I need to make scales that are matte black.
Does anyone of you know how one might go about that?
The idea is to have the look of a tactical folder which often use such materials.

The examples I was sent are of chemically blackened titanium folder handles. Not really an option for a one-off, but that's the look I was looking for.

Maybe polish first (scale material could be lots of things) then bead or sand blast or tumble.

Geezer has made some great looking acrylic matte scales, I believe he polished first then knocked off polish with abrasive (pumice?) and a brush. May not tactical looking but a real nice finish.

Have a look at black paper micarta , it has much less patterning than canvas or linen micarta. Just a thought.
