Need matte black scales material
Hey guys,
For a project I need to make scales that are matte black.
Does anyone of you know how one might go about that?
The idea is to have the look of a tactical folder which often use such materials.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Maybe polish first (scale material could be lots of things) then bead or sand blast or tumble.
Geezer has made some great looking acrylic matte scales, I believe he polished first then knocked off polish with abrasive (pumice?) and a brush. May not tactical looking but a real nice finish.

Have a look at black paper micarta , it has much less patterning than canvas or linen micarta. Just a thought.
