"Broken Blade Rescue Mission" Thread!
Hello Gents!
I saw a few posts about some broken blades that were rescued and given new life and regained dignity and I was inspired!!!
Have a few broken blades, a Boker, Torrey, and a couple few more that Ive received over the years (the Boker I broke when the vicious and unforgiving buffing wheel grabbed it and threw it at Mach 3 to the ground)... and Ive always wanted to fix them, bring them back from the sad end of utility.
So here it is! Its got temporary hexheads in and will be finished tomorrow.. And it looks great I think, one Ill keep in my collection, maybe use it for those hard to get spots, I dont know.
But if any of you want to share your rescued blades OR perhaps you too will show mercy on those poor blades who have had their dignity stripped and sit idle in a junk straight razor graveyard by fixing them up... well that would be great to see!“You must unlearn what you have learned.”

Nice save. I haven't had the misfortune of chucking a razor with the buffer, yet.

Well, this is timely...
My beloved tamahagane Iwasaki was a victim in The Great Display Case Failure of 2014 () and after a year or so of trying to decide how to deal with it, I finally decided if I ever wanted to shave with it again, it was going to have to become a shorty...
Aesthetically wounded, but in terms of function performing admirably. Happy to have her back in the rotation!Last edited by entropy1049; 07-19-2015 at 05:29 PM.

I bought one that way.
Sombody tried running it through a electric knife sharpener from what i could tell.
Sanded out as much of the grinder marks as possible , and amputated the broken toe.Mike

I like how you put that "The Great Display Case Failure of 2014" I know it's not a funny situation but it made me laugh.
And the use of the word "amputate" from Outback made me imagine a wartime doctor looking over with a grim face and saying "we're gonna need to amputate.."

I have done a few.
Will have to look through my computer for the pics.
Always good to save one!

I did a Torrey, a bit short! Turned out lovely. Pretty certain it still resides with JimmyHAD.

I rest my case.

You know after shortening/fixing it, and getting the feel and the look, I think the short blades look great too! Compact and stout. I have yet to shave with it, but I'm sure it will perform well, I don't really use "all" of a long
blade anyway. Hope to see more rescued blades thanks for sharing. Definitely not aesthetically wounded IMHO.
