So.....I don't think outback's idea of us lounging around and doing nothing is gonna fare well. No need in stressing him. ;)
Someone should start a project, now.
We need to keep this workshop.

I've been clearing out a few other wood projects that were on the plate this week.
2 pepper mills, half dozen pens, and a couple kitchen utensils..
But almost ready to crack out my next shave save..
You get your CA part C for the devil yet? How's the water levels down there? Settling back I trust?

Oh definitely Tom. This is like a home to him. He has a reserved workspace!!!!
Got a lot going on. Gotta go to court 8 am in the morning as a witness in the accident I was in so I'm glad I'm not the one being charged. Then I have some other things to do so my day is going to be busy. I'll probably start on the Barber-sori next. I did talk to my welder/straight razor buddy & told him I have a project & he said okay, no problem.
I'm feeling better now.....................thank God!

Sorry boss, I've been getting whipped by a tough schedule and no workshop. I feel lost without a work space. Had to move all my equipment out and am trying to set up shop somewhere else.
Been checking in here to see what's going on and the thread seemed dead earlier. Without outback here, no workshop, tired from work and no sleep... Been a bit down in the dumps.
So I thought about a thread that I remember Geezer saying how he makes do without all the big equipment and workshop... and I figure I should be able to make do too! I'll figure it out.
Brought my Dremel and sand paper. Will get to work again tomorrow in the apartment we moved into Saturday and Sunday.
Have those two Joseph Rodgers I need to get done.
Ugh, I need to shave. Missed it yesterday, still have a razor sharp Searsasori that I've yet to try out!
I agree, Mike wouldn't want us to slack off..

Well I know most wouldn't spend this mich time on a GD but I though I would share a project I was working on. (Actually inspired by this thread)

I had a GD that had a really bent tang so I was going to toss it out. I seen someone turn the tang into a pin and install it on a wood handle and I was like "light bulb"! So I thought what the heck. Here is a picture of my current progress.

I am probably going to drill a small hole all the way through the wood and insert/epoxy a stainless steel pin through the handle for added strength. I will probably also cap the hole with a stainless steel (or nickel silver) pommel.

The handle still needs shaped and finished and I think the grain will really pop with a CA finish.

What do you guys think?

I feel your pain. I am away from home doing an internship. All I brought was my Dremel, sandpaper, and coping saw. I forgot a ball peen hammer and couldn't find a small one at a price I wanted to spend so I bought a small tack hammer for $6 and pulled out the Dremel. If you are patient and take your time you can do some pretty good work with a Dremel with the right bits. I will have to post a picture of the tack hammer I worked over tomorrow when I get off work.

Hi, gents.
I finished the working on the Rodgers, have tons of pics to shave, shaved with it yesterday, but we are hosting a Congress on Science and Technology at the University all this week and I am member of scientific committee. I'll post as soon as I have the chance.

A modified GD! Are you planning on putting the handle on all the way? Never saw one with a French point but maybe I haven't looked at them too much. I like your peening hammer.

Good luck Matheus. I'm up early this morning. I have to be at court in an hour so I better start getting ready. As most know, I didn't do anything wrong but the other guy did. It's cooler out this morning so my back is killing me but that's life! The metal in it lets me know how the weather is.

My turn to post in this thread gents. I received this in the mail today, from a gentleman who restores safety razors. Said he had this sitting in a drawer for a while and was thinking of putting it in scales, but wanted to know if it can be made shave-ready first.

So what do you think? How would you go about it? Would you try to reinstate the smile? The spine wear is pretty bad.. I'd say, grinding the heel away would make it difficult to hone, if not impossible. Basically, right now the blade sits on the stone almost flat.
