My pc is hooked up to 42 inch 4k tv , with a 4k graphics card.

I just blew up sever pictures of the area to super close and there is sign of a crack.

There dose seem to be an anomaly on the picture I posted about a centimetre above the chip and to the right but defiantly no crack where it formed.

Don't forget I cleaned it up , hand sanded it, polished it, I would have seen the crack.

The blade is in the bin now anyway :beer1:

There must have been an internal hairline crack , if that's possible ? and the heat opened it up.

Whatever happened, it's a done deal & you are moving on to the next one like you said Joseph. Only sensible thing to do.

I agree that it is done and over. Life will go on but it is always interesting to figure out why so we or anyone else doesn't do it again.

One thing to add: The blade was a 5/8ths full hollow and it was in a bad state, deep pitting and the worst rust I've seen. So it must have been weak structurally .

It lead a full life ,may its soul fly amongst the clouds :angel:

Turning my attention back to my other Wade on the bench.
Bit more micro-file work on the ivory tang.

Sadly I've exposed, or created a hairline crack in the ivory on the B side that I didn't see during rough stages. Seems stable, and non progressing, but dang.
At this point I intend to live with it.
Can see where I taped off the bottom of the blade while I worked the rubber hose sanding block under the spine top edge. Worked well. Think I will live with one or two pits still for the sake of how much more steel I'd have to lose to get them out.

B52, all other things aside, it came out very well done. The imperfections will just give it character! I can live with it.

I think it looks bloody fantastic Mike. The crack just makes it look old, and like you've never even touched it. That's going to be a beauty once you get it back in some scales.

Regarding scales,,, choices are black wood, compliments of missing Mike. Ebony, dark horn, honey horn, or bone.
Leaning towards classic dark horn, brass wedge again, maybe bone, with older style polished bullseye washers.
Thoughts and opinions always appreciated.
