I've read somewhere here on SRP that you can soak bone and horn in neats foot oil. I tried just rubbing some (I didn't want to take them apart) on a couple of my razors with bone scales and it cleaned them up a little which made them shine a little more and left them feeling a lot better. It seems the neats foot oil replaces some of the natural oil/moisture in bone and horn thus leaving them less brittle.

Thanked: 4828I'm glad it is better than you thought. Looking forward to the pictures. Light mineral oil may moisturize it faster.

Roger, I have two vintage razors with bone scales that are terribly thin. I think you will find them to be stronger than you think. I have left mine as is, except for a light rub with mineral oil to replace some moisture and elasticity.
Smarter than I look or, not as dumb as I look. Whichever you prefer.
