Ah, silly me. I was thinking about the washers between the scales and the shank. Sometimes they're domed as received. Thanks though.

Just smash with a hammer, usually the hole does not change, if it does ream with a drill. If you buy a 1/16 in bit with the hex shaft ($3 at Lowe’s), you don’t need a pin vise.

I get them as flat as possible, the ones in the cup have been flattened.

These were ordered from a European provider, and the convex/concave shave seems intentional.

Thanks for the suggestions and information so far. I think there is something I'm going to try before I spend >$30 on a dapping block and punches.

Is there anyone that sells larger 1/16" washers, or are the "#0 wide" from microfasteners going to be the best I can do?

I have seen some, about $1.83 per washer, with a 100 unit minimum. Much cheaper to buy a punch & die set and make your own.

I've actually been looking at hollow punch sets, but I wasn't sure of the best way to center the 1/16" hole in each washer. I would probably end up having to stack them on a drill and file them all down so they are still the same size and the hole is centered.
