Thanked: 3215I then take a 4-5 inch piece of bamboo chop stick and dimple the end so it fits over the pin head,( just a bit smaller) of the pinned razor.
Put a dab of .5 Diamond paste, rubbing or polishing compound on the tip, chuck in a drill press and polish the pin head smooth. If you make the dimple just the right depth, you can polish the pin and the washer at the same time. Finish with Chrome Oxide and metal polish.
A block of wood with a dimple drilled in it to hold the pin on the other side, keeps it from dancing on the table, or a piece of 6mm foam.
Chopsticks are handy, I always pick up an extra set.

So how are the domed washers oriented with regard to the shank and the scales?

Ah, silly me. I was thinking about the washers between the scales and the shank. Sometimes they're domed as received. Thanks though.

Thanked: 3215Just smash with a hammer, usually the hole does not change, if it does ream with a drill. If you buy a 1/16 in bit with the hex shaft ($3 at Lowe’s), you don’t need a pin vise.
I get them as flat as possible, the ones in the cup have been flattened.

These were ordered from a European provider, and the convex/concave shave seems intentional.

Thanked: 315Thanks for the suggestions and information so far. I think there is something I'm going to try before I spend >$30 on a dapping block and punches.
Is there anyone that sells larger 1/16" washers, or are the "#0 wide" from microfasteners going to be the best I can do?
