For cutting bone and antler I use a fine tooth band saw blade.
Eye protection is a must. A dust mask is a good idea too. Long sleeves (like a flannel shirt), jeans, and a leather apron are nice to have on.
And vapor rub under your nose to combat the smell. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Right? I dunno if u have me mixed up with someone else but I'm a stay at home dad, all the work I do is take care of 3 kids and work on razors in the morning before they wake up and at night when they are in bed...
wait... I think ur on to something! Maybe if I murder the wife and use the bone from that but I think that would be illegal in some state lol jk not trying to be an ass just making a joke... As my wife glares at me from across the room almost as if she knows I'm talking about her

Pet store wedges done!
Here is the final product, I used the bigger blade because I used it the least and if it got damaged I wouldn't weap for too long... But I did sucessfully get some usable wedge pieces out of it, the real area for concern is if I had cut these pieces the right way to attain the maximum amount of flat pieces, used a different piece or the if the knuckle would have been the best route...
so the question remains is it worth 20 minutes of work, the $7, and bone dust covering 80% of my work bench, Oh yeah and a new 80 grit belt? I think I'll let everyone decide...
Here in the pictures I have the pieces that came from that giant bone... These were the only places that could be sanded down flat (with the way I cut it)... One pic show all pieces and also shows the longest piece I got out of it... The second picture shows what I was experiencing... As u can see I was easily was able to sand down what was the inside of the bone, then I was left with the outside that always had some kind of curve to it... So I would sand that down, and the sides until they matched thickness, as shown in the third pic... I was trying to figure out if the tapered sides should of been what I used for the wedge end... But I thought that it was too steep of a angle to use as a wedge... Lastly in the third picture I have side comparison, I know the thin side of the long piece probably cannot end up being used as a wedge but the rest of that piece is fair game...actually looking at that smaller piece again it looks like it may be too thin too
Conclusion: I think that since I didn't show how I cut the bone it is probably hard to know if I cut it in the most efficient way... All in all I think that one of the many smarter people on this forum go to ththe petstore and Let me know if i did alright...
