Thread: sports shirt micarta

Post some pics when you get it done. The synthetic material has a natural shine to it and am wondering what it will look like when done. I've been wanting to try and make some micarta again. Tried it with paper once, but didn't turn out so well. The paper kept wanting to peal apart. Probably not enough epoxy. Got some linen strips that I was going to use to make a strop, but turned out to be to thin and flimsy for a strop so figured linen micarta would work if I ever get around to trying it again.

I found making it with both denim and this shirt was pretty easy. I'm no expert but I think that the speed the epoxy sets at can cause he layers not to bond, if it's too quick the layers will separate. I'm sure I read that on here somewhere when researching
