I was thinking the same thing, especially on a heavy wedge there won't be any flex. I would at least try it first.

I wouldn't try this with a extra hollow though, that will have to much flex

Another option is to do nothing. I have several cracked blades that I have used for years that remain unchanged. In fact my most recent shave was with a Frederick Reynolds with two cracks. As long as the crack does not scratch my strop, I figure they won't scratch my face.

With hindsight as usual I know what I should have done.

Firstly what utopian suggested , ignore the crack and see if it destroys your Kanayama and or face haha .Seriously though this is the best option.

Secondly what suticat suggested , send it to him for a shortening .

I cant handle the way it is now so today I will take a mil off the heel and centre. Try to give this blade its dignity back

Just spent what felt like years on the DMT plate..

I'm quite satisfied but not over the moon

Still a long way to go. I managed to hit the shoulders on the DMT so its back to the sandpaper for repairs..

Truthfully I just wanna get on with the next one. I've been eyeing it up for weeks.

I don't know if I have ever worked one restore from start to finish without putting it aside and working on others.

I have rules and regulations , Don't start one until your in the clear. Plus all that sanding isn't exactly a lure .

That's why after sanding the face of a blade, I cover it with scotch tape.
Then I can sand the spine and tang without any worries of scratching the blade with the sand paper or anything laying on the workbench or that may be on my hands.
Have done it before, so that's what I do to protect my work from myself. Like this blade. The blade I did in a satin finish, then taped it to buff the spine and tang to a bright finish.

Just tape it, and cut the area out that you want to protect, or not protect, with a razor blade.
